Bureau of Land Management in Partnership with the U.S. Forest Service

Overview

The Land and Mineral Use Records system in GeoCommunicator provides the capability for display of use authorization and mining claim parcels from the BLM's National Integrated Land System (NILS). Data from BLM's Legacy Rehost 2000 System, or LR2000 (www.blm.gov/lr2000) is converted to NILS processed and made available to the public in GeoCommunicator. The parcels are displayed on a range of reference maps selected by the user. The site will continually be updated with new land and mineral records, as data are converted to the spatial geodatabase format.

Land & Mineral Use Records Viewer

The following selection methods are available in the viewer:
  • Users can zoom in to an area on the map by using the map tools or the place name search tool. All of the mining claims or authorizations (based upon the user's selection) occurring in the selected area will be displayed.
  • Users can search by mining claim or use authorization record information to find the parcels of interest. From a list of records meeting the search criteria, users can display a mining claim record and zoom to its location on the map. Also provided is a link to a detailed report from the LR2000 system.
