PLSS township data can be downloaded by using any of the following methods

• Graphically using the "Select Township" map tool to select one or more townships
• State tab to select an entire state
• County tab to select one or more counties for a state

You must allow pop-ups to download data.

1. Select Townships Graphically

This method is best if you only want a small number of townships. Users can use the 'Select Township' Map Tool to graphically select one or more townships. 

Steps to download townships by using the graphic selection tool:

• Click on the 'Select Township' tool from the map tools.
• Click on the map to select a single township or click on the map and drag a rectangle to select more than one township. 
• The selected townships will be highlighted on the map to show the selection while the attributes of these selected townships will be displayed in the search results window.
• A selection cannot be modified by adding or deleting from an existing selection set. Each time a user makes a selection a new selection set is created. Once the user is satisfied with the selection the select/download button can be used to initiate the file zipping and download process.

2. Select by State or County This method is best when you want to download one or more counties in a state or entire state.

Steps to download townships by State:

A selection cannot be modified by adding or deleting from an existing selection set. Each time a user makes a selection a new selection set is created. Once the user is satisfied with the selection the select/download button can be used to initiate the file zipping and download process.

• Select the State Tab from the upper right corner of the map window.
• A list of states will appear, select the state from the list box (see figure 1 below).
• Click the Search/Select button to submit the search.
• As a result, all townships in the state that were selected will be highlighted on the map.

Steps to download Townships by County:

• Select the County Tab from the upper right corner of the map window.
• A list of counties (see Figure 2 below) will be displayed for the state. Select one or more counties by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking to select the counties.
• Click the "Search/Select" button to submit the search.
• As a result, all townships for the selected counties in the state will be highlighted on the map. Any townships that intersect with the selected county boundaries will become part of the selected set.
